Irish traditional music on flute & tin whistle.

Hi there, and welcome to my page! I'm a musician and teacher from County Dublin specializing in Irish traditional music on tin whistle and flute. Here you will find some information about me, my musical projects, and how to get in touch.

Christina Dolphin was born in County Dublin, Ireland. She took up the tin whistle at age 7 and went on to learn the flute a few years later.

After studying at Trinity College Dublin and University of Limerick as an undergraduate student, she went on to receive a master’s degree in ethnomusicology  from University College Dublin, where she lectures occasionally on Irish traditional music.

Over the past decade, she has toured extensively; performing and teaching in Ireland, the UK, America, Canada, Europe, China, Southeast Asia and New Zealand.

She is a two-time All-Ireland champion, and also holds several other medals from various All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil competitions.

Christina currently lives in New York where she teaches with the Irish Arts Center, and performs regularly with the Grammy-nominated, Tony award-winning Broadway musical, Come From Away.

Christina has been teaching tin whistle and flute for over a decade.  She has experience teaching children and adults of all ages and levels through private one-to-one lessons, group lessons, workshops, Skype lessons, and corporate events.

Student Quotes

"Christina is my tin whistle teacher at the Irish Arts Center in NYC. I just finished my second semester with her, and I couldn’t be happier! Christina is engaging, patient, funny and altogether an effective teacher. Emphasis on the patient. 😉" - Barbara Parry Fox

"I took Christina's Tin Whistle 1 class through the Irish Arts Center and enjoyed it very much. We learned five really nice songs, some I was familiar with and some that were new to me, and she is a very good teacher--patient and knowledgeable." - Edward Dickman

"I have been taking whistle lessons with Christina for several terms at Irish Arts Center and she is an excellent teacher. She can both perform and teach. Her performance credentials from the past include 2007 All-Ireland Fleadh senior winner in Flute - Slow Airs. Most recently, she is alternate Flute-whistle player in the NY City, Broadway musical "Come From Away." Not all great performers are also great teachers but Christina is one of them. I would say her greatest assets are her encouraging manner and her ability to be aware of how a student is doing (even when it is a group lesson). The latter allows her to offer corrections as needed." - Brian Wrynn
